Property WeekSep 26, 2026

VIRTUS Data Centres, part of the STTGDC Group, has secured a £2.45 billion financing package from a consortium of banks to support its expansion across the UK and Europe, according to Property Week. The company describes it as one of the largest data centre bank financings completed in the UK to date.

Deal Structure

Standard Chartered acted as coordinator, bookrunner, senior mandated lead arranger and green loan coordinator for the financing, working alongside a consortium of other banks. The committed funding includes a £1.2 billion green capex facility, available through both term and revolving tranches.

Where the Money Is Going

The funding will support development of the 78 MW, AI-ready Saunderton campus in Buckinghamshire and future investment in LONDON19 in Slough, as well as VIRTUS's broader expansion across Europe.

VIRTUS CEO Adam Eaton said the financing "reflects the strength and stability of our existing portfolio, our track record of delivery and the opportunities ahead," adding that the capital flexibility "will enable us to continue investing in high-quality data centre infrastructure and support our ongoing growth across the European market." Standard Chartered's head of commercial real estate for EMEA, Shane Moore, said the bank remains "focused on providing the capital solutions our clients need to grow and succeed" as digital infrastructure becomes increasingly critical to the global economy.
