Data center developer Skybox and real estate firm Prologis have filed an application with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a fourth building at their data center campus in Hutto, Texas, just northeast of Austin.
The new facility, Skybox Hutto 4, is located at 3399 County Road 132 and is described in the filing as a single-story core-and-shell building for future use as a data center. At 846,300 square feet (78,625 sqm), it will be bigger than any of the campus's existing buildings: Hutto 1 and Hutto 2 each measure 235,720 square feet, and Hutto 3 spans 492,350 square feet. Construction is set to run from January 2027 to October 2028, with Skybox investing $550 million in the project, according to the filing reported by Data Center Dynamics.
The site owner is listed as Hutto Data Center Campus, LLC, an affiliate that shares an address with Prologis.
Hutto 4 is the latest phase of Skybox and Prologis's wider PowerCampus Austin development, which is planned to deliver 600MW of IT capacity across 3.88 million square feet. Skybox filed plans for Hutto 1 in October 2023, Hutto 2 in April 2024, and Hutto 3 in May 2024.
Skybox and Prologis have partnered since early 2021, when they first filed to convert a Prologis warehouse in Chicago into a data center, and the pair are now working on multiple other sites together. Skybox also has data center projects underway in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Wichita Falls, Texas, while Iron Mountain and Colovore are separately developing facilities in Hutto.
