Enerflex Ltd. has been awarded a contract to design, engineer, fabricate and assemble approximately 450 megawatts of behind-the-meter natural gas-fired power generation units for a North American data center developer, according to a report from BNN Bloomberg. The identity of the data center developer was not disclosed.
Under the agreement, deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027, with the project reaching completion in 2028. Enerflex said the work will be carried out through its North American manufacturing operations, and the deal also includes opportunities for future commissioning, installation and aftermarket services.
Enerflex CEO Paul Mahoney tied the award to rising interest in power generation that bypasses the grid entirely: "The demand for reliable, prime power that does not require grid connection, supporting AI and digital infrastructure development continues to grow."
The market reacted favorably to the news. Enerflex shares rose about 15%, gaining $4.80 to close at $37.18 on the Toronto Stock Exchange following the announcement.
