DayOne, a Singapore-headquartered digital infrastructure platform, and Imari City have announced plans to develop a new data center campus in Imari City, Saga Prefecture, Japan, with 200MW of grid power, according to a report from w.media.
The campus will sit on a 133,000-square-meter site within the Imari East Industrial Park and will be developed in phases, with the first phase targeted to be operational in 2030. The development includes 160MW of secured powered land, according to the firm's press release.
Located in Kyushu, Japan's southernmost main island, the Imari campus expands DayOne's Japan platform beyond Tokyo and puts it closer to other major Asian markets. The project is supported by Saga Prefecture and Imari City, and is expected to support about 60 to 80 full-time roles once fully operational, in addition to local employment generated during development, construction and operation.
DayOne CEO Jamie Khoo said Kyushu has the potential to become an important new location in Japan's digital infrastructure landscape, adding that the Imari campus brings together the region's advantages, the city's leadership and DayOne's experience building new digital infrastructure markets at scale, and that the company intends to deliver the campus responsibly while building local capabilities.
